Antyodaya Diwas is observed on 25 September, the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya (born 25 September 1916, died 11 February 1968). He is associated with Integral Humanism, which treats the growth of body, mind, intellect and soul as one whole. His Antyodaya idea puts the poorest person at the centre of development and ties progress to a minimum living standard for all. Schemes named after him include DDU-GKY, launched on 25 September 2014 for rural youth skilling, and DAY-NRLM for empowering rural households.
