The 86th All India Presiding Officers' Conference was held in Lucknow on the theme 'Strong Legislature - Prosperous Nation'. About 36 presiding officers from 24 States and UTs took part, the largest such meeting so far. It passed six resolutions, including a minimum of 30 sittings a year for state legislatures. The Lok Sabha Speaker announced a National Legislative Index to compare Parliament and state legislatures on sittings, bills passed and committee work.
