The 73rd Plenary Meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC) laid out a multi-sector development strategy for the North Eastern Region in line with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. Eight high-level task forces presented action plans on investment, agriculture, infrastructure, tourism, sports and handicrafts. About 6,500 villages without banking access have been brought into the banking network, lifting UPI use in the region to nearly 90%. The Rising North East Investment Summit drew commitments worth ₹4.5 lakh crore. NEC is a statutory body under the NEC Act, 1971, working under the Ministry of DoNER.
