The Government of India has dissolved the Digital Communications Commission (DCC) after nearly 37 years. Set up as the Telecom Commission in April 1989 and renamed DCC in October 2018, it was the apex inter-departmental body for telecom and digital communication policy and administrative matters. The Union Cabinet approved the dissolution on 16 September 2026, and the government resolution came into effect on 19 September 2026. The move followed overlap between DCC members and Department of Telecommunications (DoT) advisers, along with key posts lying vacant.
