The foundation stone has been laid for Adani Power's 3,200 MW Ultra-Supercritical Thermal Power Plant at Chapar in Dhubri district, Assam. The project is worth ₹48,000 crore and will be the largest power plant in Northeast India. Ultra-supercritical technology operates at very high temperature and pressure, giving better fuel efficiency and lower emissions per unit than older coal plants. The plant is expected to boost power availability in the region.
