Tea tribes and Adivasi communities in Assam will now get 3% reservation in Class I and II State government posts, including the State civil services and professor positions, after a Cabinet decision. Until now, this quota applied only to Grade III and IV posts. The Cabinet also expanded the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan to bring in 1,07,532 additional women. This comes on top of the 32 lakh beneficiaries who have already received ₹10,000 each under the scheme, which aims to promote entrepreneurship in rural areas.
