During the Budget session, the Lok Sabha passed the Industrial Relations Code (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which gives legal clarity and continuity to the labour laws replaced by the Industrial Relations Code, 2020. That Code had merged and repealed the Trade Unions Act, 1926, the Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Act, 1946, and the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947. Savings provisions under Section 104 ensure that actions taken, rights earned and proceedings begun under the repealed Acts continue without legal interruption.
