India has displaced China to become the biggest supplier of cotton products to the United States in 2025. India shipped about 0.6 million tonnes of cotton products, while China's exports fell to roughly 0.5 million tonnes because of high tariffs ranging from 10% to 125% and regulatory curbs. US laws such as the Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act (UFLPA) have reduced reliance on Chinese goods and pushed buyers to source more from India and other countries. The US remains the world's largest importer of cotton-based goods such as apparel and home textiles.
