Skyroot Aerospace is getting ready to launch Vikram-1, the first orbital rocket developed by a private company in India. The rocket is designed to place satellites weighing up to 300 kg in low Earth orbit and will lift off from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota. It is named after Vikram Sarabhai, regarded as the father of India's space programme. The company had earlier flown Vikram-S, India's first private sub-orbital rocket, in 2022.
